403 Lancaster County Students Receive Interest-Free Loans!

LDHL has awarded $760,000 in interest-free loans to 403 students from Lancaster County to support their post-secondary education for the 2025-2026 academic year. The interest-free loans will be applied toward tuition at 119 colleges and universities across the United States.

Lancaster Dollars loans were extremely helpful to me, especially the zero-interest aspect of them. It helped alleviate some of the financial burdens of being a college student, allowing me to really focus on my academics and get to where I am today – so thank you all for that!! It is a truly wonderful organization. ~ Madelina M. (currently studying Biology PhD at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, York College of Pennsylvania graduate & former loan recipient)

LDHL is particularly appreciative of a growing group of Legacy Loan Donors, individuals, groups, or organizations that have contributed $10,000 or more, either as a single gift or cumulatively over time. Legacy Loan Donors can set small preferences for their named loan, such as a particular major or school. Out of the 403 loans awarded for the 2025-2026 academic year, 41 were Legacy Loans.

Since 1961, LDHL has distributed over $21 million in interest-free loans to students from Lancaster County. These loans are made possible through community contributions and the repayments of previous recipients. Over its six decades of operation, LDHL has expanded the number of loans available due to the continued generosity of individuals, businesses, and numerous former loan recipients and their families who contribute in appreciation for the opportunities these loans provided.
