Celebrating Volunteer Month: Eight employees win Helping Hands awards
Each year, Penn Medicine Lancaster General Health’s Helping Hands/Helping Hands Abroad program invites employees and Medical-Dental Staff members to apply for grants on behalf of a not-for-profit organization for which they volunteer.
This year, nearly $15,000 in grants were awarded to eight employees. Leveraging their community service and support for the winning organizations, these LG Health employees earned their charities a grant of $1,000 each for the local organizations, and $3,300 for foreign organizations.
The Lancaster-based awards were given to Kay Brubaker for Lancaster Dollars for Higher Learning; Mick Kauffman for Hospice and Community Care/Pathways; Susan Baker for Bright Side Opportunities Center; Samantha Kendig for ASAP-Action for Substance Abuse Prevention; and Christine Bruce for Mom’s House of Lancaster.
For abroad, the award winners are Dr. David Silbert for FIBUSPAM; Dr. Bret Daniels for Haiti Outreach Ministries; and Margarite Waller for Christian Emergency Relief Teams.
